Do you use a spine return to sport checklist?
I think one of my favorite return to sport checklists that we have is the Spine Return to Sport Checklist. It's probably the least utilized and admittedly so in my practice, it was the least utilized. We think of lower extremity return to sport checklists and what are we going to do to test all the domains of function there. Maybe less often the upper extremity, what are we going to test there? And what does that look like? That's probably not as frequently used. If you haven't downloaded those, please do so. But it's the spine ones that I think really enlighten things, because the spine can be the root of a lot of future problems. So when we have extension base low back pain in our athletes, it actually can cause a lot of problems in the future. A lot of my pitchers will see shoulder and elbow problems a year after they had low back pain because we didn't resolve all the impairments that occur with that. So this is going to take you through a series from low level volitional activities like multifidus and transverse abdominus function, all the way through higher level global activities, planks and push ups, in addition to movement screening and upper quarter Y balance tests, lower quarter Y balance tests. But hopefully it'll give you a little bit different perspective so that you know, you've fully restored the person, so you're not setting them up for future injury. So download those now.
