Hop Testing Reliability and Normal Limb Symmetry Index

“Of most importance was the fact that all subjects achieved at least 90% limb symmetry index on all 4 hop tests. Therefore, we recommend that a minimum limb symmetry value of 90%, rather than previously recommended 85%, should be adopted during rehabilitation and conditioning.”

TAKE HOME: Hop testing (single, triple, triple crossover) have good reliability (timed hop reliability is lower).  Also, due to the learning effects, 3 practice trials should be administered. Most importantly, the average limb symmetry index for all hop tests in this healthy group of recreational athletes was around 100% (98.38 to 101.61%.).
